Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg

Welcome to the Centre for Astronomy of Heidelberg University

Dominika Wylezalek has been appointed as a new Professor at ZAH and Director at ARI, effective March 1, 2025. She will lead the research group “Galaxy Evolution and AGN (GALENA)”. (2025/02/24)

With its sky-scanning phase completed and "retirement” orbit imminent, the ARI team is saddened by the forced break in contact. But there are great data products on the horizon. (2025/01/16)

Prof. Dr. Michela Mapelli (ZAH/ITA) has been appointed to the "Henriette Herz Scouting Program". She now has the opportunity to recommend scientific talents from abroad for a Humboldt Research Fellowship in Heidelberg. (2025/01/08)

To investigate the formation of dormant black holes which are part of a binary star system with a companion star, Prof. Dr. Michela Mapelli (ZAH/ITA) receives a research grant from the German Research Foundation (DFG). (2025/01/07)

Eva Grebel (ZAH) received the teaching award from the Department of Physics and Astronomy of Heidelberg University. (2024/12/06)

The Ernst Patzer Foundation is awarding the best refereed publications by young researchers at MPIA and ZAH. This year, Brooke Polak (ITA) and Jose Eduardo Mendez-Delgado (ARI) are among the awardees. (2024/11/30)
